User evaluation
User evaluation
User one
For this person I decided to use the think aloud method, I thought
this would suit best because it’s getting constant feedback while the user is
evaluating the app. Before I start I want it to be clear that I let the user
have the freedom to explore the app and then comment on any issues that they
thought needed improved or changed. This person while exploring the app found one
of the main problems was actually the inconsistency of the text we have on our
app, an example could be that certain words were capitalised where other words
should have been instead. Two other points this user made were the fact that
for height you should be able to see the option to switch between cm and feet and
for weight you should have the option to switch between kg and stone. To
summarise multiple pages that have a step process explaining what to do could
be changed according to the user’s feedback which was images could be put for
each step in the process to give a visual idea for the user on how to perform
that step. To close off this user gave us feedback that though it may only make
incremental changes it gets the app closer to a finished state which people
would find it easy to use. Asking the user questions during and after their evaluation of the application was also a beneficial factor to seeing how they felt about the app and how we could improve it, these are some of the questions I asked:
Easy to navigate?
The app was easy to navigate and made it clear with a minimalistic and simplistic navigation bar with icons that are easily recognisable.
One thing you would change?
Even though this is an early design of the finished product a colour scheme would benefit the app greatly and should not have full colours.
How do you add an exercise to your routine?
You navigate to the exercise section of the app, choose what part of the body you want to work on then finally find an exercise that suits you and add it to your routine.
User two
For this person they brought up points that could help us
but not in-depth as the first user with a lot of the points they raised being
very similar to the first user. A main point was in the timetable that is
displayed on the homepage, it shows AM throughout the whole day even during the
afternoon and that is something that they suggested would need changed to avoid
confusion. And another main point that they raised was various inconsistencies
need to be ironed out so the app seems like it’s in a finished and professional
state. Questions asked during and after evaluation:
Favourite feature?
The fact you're able to view the progression between you and your friends in a leaderboard.
Are you finding it hard to navigate from one page to another?
No the app makes it clear what section you're on and makes it clear what areas are which.
Are you able to access your timetable and view your schedule for the next few days?
Yes you get to here by clicking at the bottom of the page which has a calander icon and from there you're able to see the timetable.
